Summer Vacation!

June 12, 2014 / Leave a Comment

Summer vacation is awesome.  I am going on my first vacation in 2 days to Logan, Utah to visit my husband's family.  My husband has 10 brothers and sisters- some step, some half, some full siblings!   It is so different visiting his family because I am an only child, and when we visit my family- it's just my mom and dad. Anyways,  here's a picture of 6 of the 10 siblings from a few years ago.  (I'm in the middle with the pirate shirt).

Another fun fact. A lot of my husband's family lives in Preston, Idaho... where Napoleon Dynamite was filmed!  It's a really cute little town.

I love visiting Utah and Idaho. They are both incredibly beautiful states.

In other news...
1.  I am anxiously awaiting my new avatar character.  I ordered one on etsy for my tpt store.  As soon as I get it, I may order myself a custom blog template.  Squee!

2.  I started experimenting with making report templates.  I love giving my 5th graders "reports" as projects.  I make them fun by having them add in a powerpoint slideshow or a poster or a comic book or something to pizzazz it up a bit.  Last year, I had the kids do early American explorer reports, 13 colony magazines, endangered species reports, bug reports/slideshows, battle reports, American Revolution Chautauquas, and "These 2 years in history" reports.

Kids will really surprise you when you give them seemingly impossible tasks. They will come through every time and shock you with their abilities.

Here is one of my report templates:

3. My mind is so cluttered with "what to do next" on TPT.  I have 100's of ideas, literally like 500, written down in my batman journal.  I just don't know which ones are the "best" ideas.  I guess all I can do is try them here and there.

Thanks for reading,

The Whimsical Teacher
