What is going viral? Will I get sick?!?
Going viral on the internet is when you create a blog post, pin, instagram pic, facebook post, tweet, or other social media post that gets noticed by thousands and sometimes even millions of people in a short period of time.
Why would I want to go viral?
Simple! You want to go viral in order to reach more readers or *buyers* of your content! Going viral also helps loyal readers find and follow you!
Ok, I'm hooked. Now, how do I go viral?
Here are the top 5 tips from my research:
1. Keep it simple stupid! Keep your blog posts between 250-1000 words. Remember the average viral posts are around 300 words.
2. Add a few pictures. Here's where most people fail. It's very important to add pictures of your own creations or observations. If you just repost a funny meme, chances are you won't go viral.
Here's my picture for today:
My class made these for our aide because her last name is Bear!
(if you're a teacher, a unique happening in your classroom can go viral fast)
3. Use the right key words. Your title and the first 200 words of your blog post are how strangers can stumble upon you! This whole process is known as SEO (search engine optimization). The system is very complex, and I'm pretty sure you can get college degree in it someday, so let's move on.
4. What key words are right for me? I can't believe you're going back to this one. Okay: here are some tips for keywords (title post being the most important).
Three major areas you want to cover:
A. Emotional words or strong language for example: Brilliant, Easy, Never, Regret, Simple, Repulsive, Sensational, Delicious, Despicable, Success!
Pair one of these words with....

B. Easy Steps, How To, or Top ___ List

C. Make the title relative to your content.
5. Readers prefer positive content tied to an emotion (think: sentimental, heartwarming, motivational, awe-inspiring, hopeful, happy)!
