New Teacher Tips Connect With Your Students

September 24, 2014 / 1 comment

This post feels cliche, but I am passionate about this topic!  We are all so busy as teachers.  There is always something to grade, copy, organize, plan for...but we must remember who we are there for...the students.  I have been guilty of shoeing students away when I've been busy.  The appropriate response is to always find the time to help and listen to your students.  Remember, your students will remember you forever, so what do you want them to remember about you?

Here are a few things I do to connect with my students:

1.  I open my room in the morning and play music.  A lot of students come in to help me organize for the day.  So many of them just need to feel like they belong somewhere.
2. I write my students a personal birthday card and try to give them a little something special on their birthdays.
3.  I invite students to come and eat lunch with me.
4. I converse with students at recess
5. I have an open study group table during all times of the day.  I'm always accessible through the table.

I'm always looking for new ways connect!  Please leave me comments if you have any more ideas!

Take Care Friends,

  1. A really great way to bond with students. I agree with you, author, because I admired my teachers at school at I still remember them, and now I understand that they were truly open to their students and thats why they have made such great influence on me. Personally, I would advice to converse with students even in the Internet, help them whenever they have any questions and advice them some useful websites where to buy essays UK , because the world is all about communication now and it can be a great tool to find the wanted connection with the students.
